Wild, Wild West

1. San Antonio Spurs: 55.5 – OVER.  Every year the Spurs seem to exceed expectations.  Why would this year be any different?  The bench is as deep as always, Marco Belinelli is a more consistent Gary Neal, and Kawhi Leonard is going to make the jump to stardom this year.  They have the best coach in basketball and will be motivated after last year’s final debacle.  Oh, and they have Tony Parker in his prime and a selectively dominant Tim Duncan.  60 Wins, you’re number 1 seed in the west, and this year’s NBA champions.  Ladies and Gentlemen, the San Continue reading Wild, Wild West

MLB Offseason: New York Yankees

The 2013 MLB season has come to a close with the Boston Red Sox winning the World Series in 6 games, just like AVS predicted before the start of the World Series.  The bats and balls have been put away until late February but there is still tons of baseball activity going on. One of the most talked about teams will certainly be the Yankees.  They missed the playoffs this year and had to deal with A-Rod’s scandal, which is not going away anytime soon.  This may be the hardest offseason for Brain Cashman yet.  Cashman gets a lot of Continue reading MLB Offseason: New York Yankees

Hot Soup Week 9 Pick

@Angelsteve89 Cincinnati (-2.5) at Miami The Bengals look like the real deal. Hopefully they don’t peak too early.  Miami lost their leading TD scorer in Gibson last week so more Mike Wallace should be coming (Yay Fantasy).  Bengals should handle Miami on Thursday. Indianapolis (-2.5) at Houston The Texans do not know who will be the starting running back this week with Foster and Tate both game time decisions.  The window for Foster, Schaub and Johnson sure did close fast. Dallas (-10.5) vs Minnesota Dallas lost a heart breaker last week and Dez exploded on the sideline instead of on Continue reading Hot Soup Week 9 Pick

NBA Eastern Conference Preview

And…we’re back.  Year 2 of the AVS over/under NBA preview is upon us and we have expanded it this year to include predictions on all 30 teams.  We have big shoes to fill as last year we hit on 13/16 over/under totals among the 16 playoff teams (thank you!, thank you!) and our promise this year is to do even better than that. In my column you will notice one broad theme that will aid me with many of my predictions.  The upcoming draft is one of the deepest and most talented classes in years.  Certainly since 2003 (LeBron, Wade, Continue reading NBA Eastern Conference Preview
