Week 3 College Preview

Big weekend for the ACC this weekend in football.  A top ten battle between two very good teams with national title implications.  Looking up and down the list of games I’m extremely intrigued on some games this weekend.  A few ranked battles on the schedule to keep everyone else interested.  Since it’s early Saturday, lets go straight to the picks:

Arizona +21.5 over Oregon

Rich Rodriguez has come into Arizona and everyone on that team has bought in.  Rodriguez has talked up QB Matt Scott and I’m buying in.  They will not win outright but I’ll take the 21.5 points and make the clock my friend throughout the game as Arizona probably gets a junk touchdown late to cover.

Michigan +5.5 over Notre Dame

The underdog in this series always tends to come out on top.  I was down on what I thought was a very overrated Notre Dame team.  The defense is good and it has one of the top linebacking corps in the country.  However, Denard Robinson will be tough to contain.  This game will be close so I’ll take the points and go with the underdog.

Clemson +14

Clemson will win outright if Clemson’s young offensive line can stand the test of the outstanding Florida State defensive line.  The line needs to protect Tahj Boyd and get a solid running game going with Andre Ellington.  The offense will be able to put up some points on a good, but slightly overrated, Florida State defense.  The defensive line of Florida State is one of the best in the country.  I think this game will be very very close.  But look at it this way, even if Florida State is up 21 points late in the game, a late score by Clemson will allow them to cover.  Take the points and the Tigers.
