Almost Varsity Sports Hot Soup Picks: Week 6

This is the big bounce back week people, don’t miss out on the Hot Soup!

For our picks history on the year check it out here

Notre Dame @ NC State -2.5

This line is a complete overreaction to how poorly Notre Dame has played this year. Two weeks ago we jumped all over Florida State in the exact same spot.

Notre Dame recruits 4 and 5 star athletes all over the field. NC State does not. Everyone thinks Notre Dame is broken, and they are, but sheer athleticism isn’t even close.  Notre Dame has athletes trying to play their way into the NFL. There will be no quit in this team this year.

Syracuse played Notre Dame well. The NC State offense isn’t close to as good as Syracuse. This team can’t keep up with ND.

The pick: Notre Dame +2.5 (2 Units)

Iowa -1 @ Minnesota

Same reasoning here for the Hawkeyes as the Irish.  This team has looked atrocious. People forget they almost won the Big 10 last year.  Minnesota just doesn’t have the talent Iowa does. I expect Iowa to pull out a close one here

The pick: Iowa -1 (1 Unit)

Syracuse @ Wake Forest -3

This Syracuse offense has surprised this year. They’ve taken the new system and run with it. Wake Forest has played above and beyond expectations for the year.  People think Wake Forest is way better than they are. This is a simple pick. Syracuse offense will score points. If you’re going to give me three points with an offense that is far superior than Wake’s, I’ll take it. Don’t be scurred – dabble on the moneyline too here.

The pick: Syracuse +3 (1.5 Units)

Georgia -7 @ South Carolina

RUN, Nick Chubb, RUN!!!!! Nick Chubb is healthy and back. Good news – this South Carolina team is bad. Muschamp has already come out to quell Gamecock nation expectations saying they are not going to win this year. Give me the team that has what looks to be the next young stud QB in the nation. Jacob Eason has looked great in his early snaps. Expect the Bulldogs to pounce this week on a weak Gamecock squad.

The pick: Georgia -7 (2 Units)

Florida State @ Miami -3

Deandre Francois is picking up the offense surprisingly well to start the year. The problem isn’t scoring points for this Seminoles team, it’s preventing points.  The problem here: the Seminoles have played 4 of the best offenses in all of college football (USF, Ole Miss, UNC, Louisville). Miami has played high school football equivalents. Even though we picked the season over for Miami, this won’t hurt that. Florida State is going to win this game outright. After seeing how this team bounced back from the first loss, I’m ready to see them do it again against an arch rival.  The team is much more talented.

The pick: Florida State +3 (2 Units)

The leans:

New Mexico +17

Duke -5.5

Texas A&M -6.5
