Water Cooler Talk: See the Game This Weekend?!

What you do this weekend? UH I blacked out.. I think.  Just in case you “don’t remember” the weekend, on Mondays we are going to provide you with the quick hits of what happened over  past weekend in sports so you can fit in at the water cooler in the office.

College Football

College Football is back baby! FCB came in like a hurricane this weekend and after one week the whole top 25 landscape has changed and more is coming! 1 Alabama rolled big time of USC and showed why they are the true #1 in the country.  6 top 25 team lost already and a 7th is coming tonight as 4 FSU plays 11 Ole Miss.  3 top 10 top teams might of already saw their playoffs lives disappear.  3 Oklahoma could not handle Houston (an AVS pick to shock to FCB Playoffs) at a neutral site.  5 LSU could not move the ball and took a bad loss vs Wisconsin and 10 Notre Dame, hahahaha, doesn’t have a defense and could stop Texas in OT.

Other notable storylines are 20 Tennessee survived an embarrassing upset try by App St.  They will really need to improve moving forward and Mississippi State forgot to play the 2H over South Alabama and lost after being up 17-0 at half!  Minus Bama is was a rough week 1 for the all mighty SEC.  More to come on the podcast but CFB is back and we already can’t wait for week 2.

NFL

Official rosters are set and we are few days after for the big boys kicking off.  Some surprises on cut days and some that were overdue (Andre Williams) but the Eagles stole the stoplight early Saturday morning.  They somehow got a 1st and 4th rounder for Sam Bradford!  Sam mother fucking Bradford got back a first rounder!!  The Vikings are going for it and the pressure in on Sammy no legs to make his mark.  This team was down after losing Teddy but playoffs are back on the radar in Minny.  Not sure this one will work out but time will tell.  Thursday night can’t come soon enough.

MLB

Wild Card races are really heating up, the AL is going be massive battle between at least 3, maybe 5, teams.  Division games will be played all month so keep on eye on this one.  Right now the AL East Sox and O’s hold the 2 spots.

Same for the NL, the Mets will not go away and it looks like a 3 team race with St. Louis and San Fran for the chance to play in that WC game.

Yankee notes (since we are homers here): Sanchez won Player and Rookie of the Month.  Unreal month for this kid only hope there is more of this in the future.  Yankees dropped 2 of 3 the O’s which hurts but doesn’t kill them yet.  Every game is vital now to the life support of the Yanks Playoff hopes

Golf: Rory Mcilroy edged out Paul Casey in the 2nd leg of the FedEx Cup.  That is a good sign for team Europe with the Ryder Cup coming next month

Tennis:  US Open week one is done, Nadal is already out, could he be nearing the end of his storied career.  Top players Djokovic and Williams cruise in every match, can someone top either of them this week?

Time to get hydrated for next weekend and now you have the top storylines so you won’t feel left out at the water cooler at work tomorrow.
