Week 6 NFL Preview

1-1-1 yesterday in our picks.  Can’t complain.  Love this week for football, fantasy and picks.  Gonna jump into fantasy and finish with picks.

NFL Football Week 6 Fantasy Tips:

QBs

Start ‘Em:

Christian Ponder, Min – Ponder has quietly put up some decent stats all year.  The Redskins are 31st in the league in Passing Yards Per Game against.  They are giving up over 325 yards per game.  This defense has given up at least 22 points in every game this season.  Bye weeks for Drew Brees and Cam Newton allow for some teams to be able to start Ponder.  Don’t be upset if he’s in your starting lineup this week.

Peyton Manning, Den – I feel this Monday night matchup is screaming shootout.  Peyton Manning has had a tremendous rapport with Demaryius Thomas so far this year.  He’ll look for him early and often in this matchup against a defense ranking in the bottom half of the league against the pass.

Start of the Week: Matt Ryan, Atl – Ryan is a top 3 QB so far this year.  Ryan  plays against a Raiders defense that is subpar at best and he has some of the top weapons in the NFL.  He will be very close to if not the TOP fantasy QB for the rest of the season.  This is a good week to prove that.

Sit ‘Em: Joe Flacco, Bal / Alex Smith, SF / Carson Palmer, Oak

RBs

Start ‘Em:

Ryan Matthews, SD – Ryan Matthews showed he can carry the load and Jackie Battle is was a smokescreen a few weeks ago.  He’s a pass catching back and in PPR leagues will be one of the top performers of the week.  This will be a shootout and Ryan Matthews is the number one target for this Chargers offense.

Michael Turner, Atl – Every Falcon will have a huge game today.  They will get a big cushion and pound the rock the rest of the game with Turner who is showing he still has some gas in the tank.

Start of the Week: Trent Richardson, Cle – Last time Trent faced the Bengals – 140 yards, 2 tds.  Enough said.  Huge game for Trent.

Sleepers: Willis McGahee, Den / Vick Ballard, Ind
Sit ‘Em: Bills Backfield, Buf / Steven Jackson, Stl / Frank Gore, SFO

WRs

Start ‘Em:

Roddy White / Julio Jones, Atl – Roddy and Julio will have a field day over this subpar Raiders defense.  Touch of opportunities to bust this game wide open early.  Look for Matt Ryan to find these two throughout the game for 3 touchdowns between the two.  That’s right, three touchdowns between these two receivers.

Percy Harvin, Min – Percy Harvin is a top WR this year and in a PPR league will be competing for the number 1 WR throughout the season.  He gets the most targets in the league when Ponder is under center.  Against an awful Redskins secondary, expect the Vikings to do whatever they can to get the ball in the hands of their number 1 playmaker.

Start of the Week: Demaryius Thomas, Den – As much as I love the weapons in Atl this week I didn’t want to load up on them for every start of the week.  I will piggy back off my reasoning for Peyton Manning to crack the top QBs this week.  Shootout, Monday night, Demaryius shows why he will be a top 10, if not top 5, WR this year.

Sleepers: Brandon Gibson, Stl / Steve Johnson, Buf
Sit ‘Em: Reggie Wayne, Ind (you cannot sit him!!! but owners beware of Cromartie who shut down Andre Johnson last week) / Eagles WRs, Phi

TEs

Start ‘Em:  Tony Gonzalez, Atl / Kyle Rudolph, Minn / Scott Chandler, Buf
Sit ‘Em: Dennis Pitta, Bal / Martellus Bennet, NYG

NFL Football Week 6 Picks:

Oakland Raiders @ Atlanta Falcons (-9.5):

The Oakland Raiders defense is very bad.  The offense hasn’t shown anything impressive this year.  The Raiders are winless coming off a bye since 2002.  Pretty ridiculous, I know.  They also haven’t covered a spread in that time off a bye week.  Matt Ryan will have a field day and throw for 3 or 4 TDs and the defense will make Palmer and the banged up WRs beat them.

The pick: Oakland (-9.5)

New York Giants @ San Francisco (-7):

This game is too close to be a touchdown spread in either direction.  This game will come to the last few drives and the 49ers will be kicking alot of field goals.  Giants are a great road team and Eli is an elite road QB.  The Giants could win this outright but should keep it within a field goal.

The pick: Giants (-7)

Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Bucs (-4.5)

Don’t let the loss of Cassel fool you.  Brady Quinn will show he is a very capable NFL backup.  The Chiefs will run all over this up/down Bucs team from start to finish.

The pick: Chiefs (+4.5)

Dallas Cowboys @ Baltimore Ravens (-3.5):

The Ravens have an average defense.  The open opinion of the Ravens is the stout defense.  Guess what; it’s not THAT good this year.  Cowboys are bound to have a breakout game at some point in time.

The pick: Cowboys (+3.5)
